PSU Wealth Management Society
PSU has no shortage of smart finance students. It has been short on a place for them to find each other. WMS. is that place: paper trading games built around real client profiles, and a straight line to people who do this for a living.
No target school required. No prior experience required. Show up, pick a seat, start managing money on paper.
Wealth management is not stock picking. It is building the right portfolio for a specific person. So every game starts with a client. Each game on Investopedia gets one client profile with a set age, time horizon and risk tolerance, and about four members each build their own portfolio for that same client.
Same client, same rules, different calls. When the game ends, the leaderboard shows whose portfolio did the job best. It is competitive, but the real lesson is watching four people read the same client four different ways.
Sample clients to show the format. Clients for the first games get set at the founding meeting.
Once a month a working professional joins us, on Zoom or in person. The lineup runs from large private banks to local advisors who manage smaller client books of $1M and up, because both paths are real careers and nobody tells you that on campus.
Portland has no private bank offices for the big names, so most of these conversations happen over video. That is a feature. It means we can pull speakers from anywhere in the country.
Come with questions. The best sessions are the ones where somebody asks what the job is actually like.
The games and the speakers are the club. These two run alongside them for members who want more. Jump in, skip them, or come and go.
Study with other members for exams recruiters notice. None of these need a firm to sponsor you.
Mock interviews and resume reviews tailored to wealth management and private banking, so your first real interview is not your first interview.
Oregon, Washington, Washington State and Seattle U all have student-run investment funds. The long-term goal is for WMS. to grow into one at PSU, funded by alumni donations. That is a goal, not a promise. It starts with a club that shows up, runs the games well and builds a track record people want to back.
The PSU Wealth Management Society was founded in Fall 2026 by the students below. They set the club's direction, run its programs and are accountable for its standards.

Founding members shape the games, the speaker list and the first term. Sign up on PSU's club page and you're on the list. Meeting time and room get announced as soon as the room is locked.
